The exchange of information among scientists cannot be stopped by the Covid-19 outbreak.
To this aim, the Petaspin Association, the IEEE Magnetics Society – Italy Chapter and other co-sponsors will organize some virtual workshops and seminars on relevant multidisciplinary topics in different fields of Physics, Mathematics, Material Science and Engineering.
Title | Day |
Skyrmion workshop The first virtual workshop will be held on July 7th, 2020 and will focus on the recent advancements on magnetic skyrmions. This workshop offers the opportunity to present and discuss the very recent theoretical and experimental outcomes on skyrmions as well as to share ideas and projects on the future directions of skyrmionics. | 7 July |
COST – Action Workshop The seminars will be devoted to describing the recent directions of the COST-action topic ultrafast opto-magneto-electronics, that combines the ideas and concepts of opto-magnetism and spin transport with photonics for ultrafast low-dissipative manipulation and storage of information. | 7-9 September |
TopDyn Workshop This virtual workshop will provide an international forum to discuss about research directions of topology and magnetism and to identify potential future challenges. | 7 October |
Workshop on Metamaterials Seismic metamaterials are a technology which is promising for the development of devices for building isolation and protection of critical infrastructures. This virtual meeting will focus on recent advances in the field of seismic metamaterials and innovative isolation systems with a particular attention to the solutions based on the properties of periodic chains with ad-hoc designed mechanical elements. The invited talks will be delivered according to the following program. | 9 October |
Seminar day 1 – IEEE Magnetics sponsored Program | 20 October |
Seminar day 2 – IEEE Magnetics sponsored Program | 30 October |
Workshop on unconventional computing and spintronics Program | 27 November |
Seminar day 3 – IEEE Magnetics sponsored Program | 4 December |
These workshops will be sponsored by other associations and research projects:
– PETASPIN association
– project “Diodi spintronici rad-hard ad elevata sensitivita’ – DIOSPIN” funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) within the call “Nuove idee per la componentistica spaziale del futuro”
– project ThunderSKY, funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), under Grant Agreement No. 871
If you want to propose a seminar or organize a half day virtual workshop please contact prof. Giovanni Finocchio (gfinocchio@unime.it), we will happy to support you. A committee will evaluate your proposal within two weeks.
