ROMA is the capital city of Italy and largest city in the region of Lazio (region of Latium). ​People of the city area of Rome are 3.47 million.​ Roma, the Eternal City, was the capital of the Roman Empire, and today it  is not only one of the major European political and cultural centers, but the city with “infinite” archaeological sites and one of the largest cultural artistic heritage in the world.​

The Historic Center of Rome was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1980, during the work of the IV session of the Commission held in Paris (1-5 September), and host complex of structures of incomparable artistic value.

Getting to Rome

Although it is said that all roads lead to Rome, unless you’re on a Mediterranean cruise or touring Europe by car, the easiest way of getting to Rome is either by plane.

By plane

Rome has one international airport (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) with over 40 million passengers passing through the city every year and a small airport (Ciampino).

Visitors flying from out of Europe will find direct flights to Rome (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) from (not exhaustive list) New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Kyoto, Singapore, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, Shanghai, and Abu Dabi, and many other.

Traveling from Europe

From Leonardo da Vinci Airport to downtown Rome:

Taxi 

A taxi from Fiumicino Airport to downtown has a fixed rate of € 48.

Leonardo Express Train

The Leonardo Express train connects Fiumicino Airport with Termini Train Station  in 35 minutes. During the day there are trains every 15 minutes. The price is € 14 , this is the fastest way to get downtown.

From Ciampino Airport:

Regional train

The regional train that connects Ciampino with Rome is a quick way to reach Termini Train Station. As the train leaves from the town of Ciampino, you will have to take a bus from the airport. The bus fare is € 1.20 and the train fare is € 1.50.

The train runs from 5:30 am -10:30 pm, every 30 minutes.

Taxi

Taxis have a fixed rate from Ciampino Airport to the city centre, similarly to Fiumicino Airport. It costs € 30 and will accommodate up to four passengers and their luggage.
